Chicago poet, educator, activist and radio chat show host, Mario has been performing in Chicago and the US for over ten years. The former Artistic Director of Guild Complex (Chicago) Mario continues to work with Chicago's youth via the Hands on Stanzas program through the Poetry Center of Chicago www.poetrycenter.org . He has written essays for Chicago's public radio affiliate WBEZ and was recently featured in an article written by Robert Scoop Jackson on ESPN.com. Mario is the host of News from the Service Entrance on Chicago's legendary WHPK which broadcasts out of the University of Chicago. Past guests on his show include - Carlos Watson (CNN), CHUCK D, Talib Kweli, Roger Simon (US News and World Report), Mary Mitchell (Chicago Sun-Times), Scoop Jackson, Bakari Kitwana, William Upski Wimsatt, actor Harry Lennix, Dr. Paul Sereno, Amina Norman-Hawkins, Dr. Margret Burroughs, and many, many others.
Mario's poetry can be found in POWER LINES: a Decade of Poetry from Chicago's Guild Complex. In the year 2000 Mario was awarded the Wallace Douglas Distinguished Service Award through Young Chicago Authors. Mario resides in the Great City of Chicago.
